A problem I first experienced in August last year in my 98 750il where, if you really put your foot down, the tranny becomes really weird..
Symptoms are:
- Jerking under acceleration. Feels like wheelspin
- Shifting is fine, but very slow engagement into Drive
- As the Drive gear is engaging I hear a slow crunch before it engages. As it engages the car and wheels move a tiny bit.
What I have done so far is:
- Change the oil and filter
- Swap used Valve body and solenoids with used one
My thinking was that if it was a VB problem, I would have noticed a change in the symptoms. After the new one was installed I have noticed zero change.
Reading through pages on the forums people come up with different solutions like checking suspension and transfer case. Don't wanna swap the trans if it is a matter of CV joints
Here is a thread talking about the same symptoms! Different car but still a bimmer

what filter did you use?
It is filtran. But the problem started before the service
So I just read off of INPA and got transmission error code 100. 1st gear ratio/frequency wrong. Makes sense since I've only gotten it in low gears. Guessing this is clutch or gear work? Could explain why the rough gearing into drive. Anyone with experince from this code?
It needs a rebuild, unfortunately. Its only a matter of time until you get a Trans Failsafe error.
