Bang/clunk noise releasing clutch

I have a manual E53 2003 and when I release the clutch it's makes a clunk noise. Pretty much 1st and reverse are worst, 2nd to 5th as the car is rolling you don't feel much but it's there. The clutch is not slipping and the transmission/engine mounts looks fine. I don't think is u-joint either.
Could it be the flywheel? Transfer case?
Any suggestions? What could I check?

You'd have to get up in a rack and run it if you suspect some thing in the trans belhousing etc. you could check the the driveshaft, guibo, mounts
