    e39 M5 Ute

    This is pretty cool. This one is a stretched sedan, but I've seen pics of them done with tourings. I think the tourings look better.

    A few pics during the build and some basic info.

    That is similar to m3 "pick up" BMW created. They created the e30 pick up and then after retiring it created an e92 pickup

    I think that's awsome looking!

Then the doc says I’m glad you don’t smoke anymore.... but that’s not enough, cut down on the salt..... says my cholesterol is not good, it’s at freakin 164..... I thought it wasn’t bad, but she says otherwise..... Then she pulls more blood..... Now she says to cut down on the sugar..... Jeezuz f’ing Christ! 2 days ago, she says I have to loose some weight..... really starting to not like my doctor..... I’ve cut down on the alcohol, quit smoking about 10 years ago, food..... next to sex, the last bastion of happiness...... At least my food doesn’t piss me off every now and then, now I gotta cut down on that too..... FV€|<!!!

    Hi,

    Seen at the yearly BMW show at Gaydon UK some years ago;

    I spoke to the garage owner who did the conversion to promote his business and he simply said, 'No, I'm not doing it again as it was an absolute ballache to do it well and properly' !!

    It was built from a Touring and it was the rear bed, flip down panel and all the headache of doing it so it worked well which took a long time and lots of trials to get the right components from other brand cars to finally find the right struts and other bits which worked - the reason they'd not make any others.

    Cheers, Dennis!

    I feel like struts would have been the easiest part. I used to design shipping racks and sometimes they used struts. Whenever we needed a strut, we'd just supply a 2d print with the pivot point coordinates and weight to a gas spring supplier. They'd punch the numbers into their calculator and get back to us with the appropriate gas spring.

    Eh, not for me.
    Curious about they would address the rear shock towers as the top mounts are a bit higher than the beltline.

    I'm not sure about that touring, but here's how they did the touring, but if you go to the link, they have a pic of how they addressed it on the sedan.

    Why would anybody do it out of a sedan, when you already have the wagons rear subframe and suspension, no McPherson struts to have in the way. That’s just DUMB.

    Who knows? They even went as far as to stretch the sedan. Maybe he thought was easier than swapping the motor and chopping it up. Maybe it's just for show. All that bracing in the bed kinda defeats the purpose of having a bed. If I chopped one up, you'd better believe I'd be using it as a pickup.

    Maybe that was never the intent. It could have started out as a dent he thought he could fix himself and it got out of control...
