Lightbulb Lamps hidden behind the grille...has anyone here done it?

Nearly 35 years ago I had a friend who would buy 2002s, clean them up and flip them. On particularly nice ones, he would add some custom touches, such as shaving the interior part of the grille a bit and mounting some powerful lamps behind it. With the clean lines of the Z3 nose, it seems an aesthetically pleasing option to do something similar, rather than trying to hang lamps under the bumper or mount them atop it (too obtrusive).

The question I have is whether this can be done without negatively affecting the amount of air getting to the radiator.
Has anyone tried it? What have been your results?

    Cheers,
    Brad

PS. Why? Because I like to drive back roads at night and want to see deer before they jump out at me. Also, I just love having 100s of watts of candlepower illuminating my way. Some guys like really loud audio systems; I like bright lights.

My car came with a grill that has built-in driving lights. I like it, but it's of unknown origin.

Just what our cars need, more stuff in the way to restrict airflow.

I did this on my old Bronco. Billet aluminum grill with lights hidden behind. Kept the front end clean, and was very functional when needed.

Hmm, guess I did alright on the install as I can't even see them. I promise they're there.

My thoughts, exactly, Nathan. I'd probably make things worse!
But I'm keen to see how I can get loads of light out there when I could use it most.
    Any suggestions are welcome.

I don't know about the grill lights but i have recently cleaned and changed the bulbs of fog lights with the brightest led lights i could find on the chinese websites and now they are brighter than all my other lights combined. It burns the retina of oncoming traffic and i am pretty sure it is illegal in my city
