    Getting to the AC Compressor

    Hello All,

Long time lurker and first post. Just purchased an F30 and found on the first warm day of spring that my AC is only pumping out warm air. I want to check the compressor but I can't seem to find it. Looking into the engine bay is it on the left front side of the car? Is there any easy way to check if it's working without taking out the covers on top of the hood?

    Thanks ahead of time!

Driver side of the engine. Left side.

BTW, when referring to a vehicle side (left or right), it is always from the perspective of sitting in the driver's seat. Not when looking at the engine bay from the front.

    Cool, thanks for the knowledge!

Make sure that the vent thumbwheel is not set to all warm, although the climate control module can override that.

I wish that was the fix I'll have to take it back to dealer to get them to fix it. I can't hear the compressor starting up at all.

Most of the time it's not the compressor's fault, but rather a leak in the system, leading to very low charge, and disabling of the ac compressor for safety. Get pressures read first.
