    Cracked rear spring

Just noticed I have a cracked rear spring, the crack is near the base. No symptoms or noises interestingly. Probably going to replace all four shocks and struts given the age and miles. Looking to replace with Bilstein B6's.

Any recommendations for springs compatible with the 740i sport package? The stock sport springs are super expensive compared to alternatives.

Any recommendations for what else to replace while I'm down there? Are those full suspension kits from fcpeuro really necessary or worthwhile? I've already replaced my front control arms.

I've read a few posts that blisteins are a rough ride but I have no first hand experience.

I've got a good set of stock springs that I took off mine. Let me know if interested.

I put B4's on my wifes E39 and they are pretty firm. I have a bunch of SLS/EDC springs because I just put H&R's on my car. They is a pretty good thread about coilovers if you want to spend the dough.

I just redid my rear because I installed a 3.15 diff. I have been only replacing parts in the suspension that I know are bad. Unless you pull the whole subframe down just do what is needed.

The Bilstein HD (B6) shocks in my E38 ride very similarly to stock sport shocks (with the stock sport springs on both). They're a hair stiffer in low speed compression I think, but not much. I don't think they'd match all that well to stock non-sport springs though, they'd likely be a little harsh.

Wow thanks for all the replies! I greatly appreciate the free offers on the stock non sport springs, but definitely need to stick with the sport springs or some aftermarket alternative.
