    Antenna Wire Splicing? or replacement?

Hi Guys. I had to do rewire my radio as PO did some hacky stuff. Since it is single din with video screen that fold out. The PO had them run a bypass on the parking brake signal wire. Now they setup the relay trick, but decided to use the ground from the antenna wire, which wasn't necessary. Anyway I did the proper bypass and fixed all the other wiring mistakes. But now I have an antenna wire without an end on it. So I need to splice it together. The wire looks like a coaxial wire but it isn't and RG6 or RG59.

So what kind of connectors should I get to splice the 2 ends together?

or should I just buy another antenna cable and reroute it? If I run a new wire how difficult is that? does it just go through the center console and under the back seats?

I have done coax splice/extension with great results for another e31 owner who had the same fate as you. hackey aftermarket audio crime....

Instead of splicing, cut and terminate the original cable with a suitable coax connector. I think from memory it was a SMA antenna connector.

For the other end you can just buy an antenna cable with the right plug for your radio, euro if it's oe radio. dime a dozen on fleabay (I bought one for a e36 for a few bucks). chop off the excess, again terminate with the opposite sex SMA connector and you're golden.

If your cable is salvageable then all you need is the SMA connector pair.

Edit - you can goldplate your work by wrapping some felt tape or foam around the connection so it won't rattle in the dash.

Yeah the issue is that I don't know what the appropriate connector is. so any help on that would be awesome. I tried RG6 and RG59
