    M70 oil filter housing

I removed my oil filter housing to make room to remove my exaust manifolds. A one way valve came out and Im not sure which way it goes back in. Does the plunger side face the housing or the engine?

I have a question, what is the part number for the oil filter housing that has the cooling system ports, or is it possible to use an aftermarket replacement?

you mean with the separate engine oil cooler under the radiator like this? https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=17_0067
on my 11/88 in hot climate version this one is installed https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=11_0552
Oil filter with oil cooler connection up to 09/1989 11421715733, if there is no oil cooler, the connection have plug 17221723676

Any idea why the oil cooler was not an option after 1989?
Did the engineers calculate that it wasn’t necessary after all?

I was going to retrofit my 1994 750iL with the oil cooler, but then decided to sell it after all because it really doesn’t get that hot where I live.

The oil reservoir looks different https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=11_4613
If I remember right, there is still an oil cooler connection but that is just a kind of piping similar to the Pentosin cooling http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E3...g_oil_pipes_3/
maybe someone can check it on an 750 after 1989
I also read that some newer E32 750 in Germany do not have this engine cooling, maybe it was just necessary for hot climate versions
