Hi guys, have a question about my new-to-me 2007 X3. As you'd expect, this car has the typical problem where the rear portion of the pano roof stays up if you lower the tilt of the front panel. I attempted to manually close that rear part by alternating between manually closing the vented front portion with the tool and pushing the wedges back with a screwdriver and dead-blow hammer, but when I finished and went to electronically slide the sunshade back to the closed position, the front panel's tilt adjusted to what looked like the final position first, as it's done on other BMW sunroofs when they close (the moment where it sort of drops in and then goes back up a little bit). All was well from inside the car and the shade closed, but from the outside, it was apparent that the rear edge of the front panel had sort of "sunken in", it was clearly lower than the front edge of the rear panel. This didn't look normal, of course, since it should all be flush in the end. Does anyone have some insight into what's causing the front panel to sink in like that and if I can do anything about that? I just want to close the whole pano roof and shade until I can do the rear roof disable mod.
Also check YouTube theres a couple of good videos there...Yeah from my experience...best to simply loosen those "star head" screws to physically place/adjust the glass where you want it and then tighten those "star 27 head screws down"...you'll definitely have to play with it and for the final touch best to calibrate the thing...what a pain but I love the roof. On a nice day on a long drive, put the windows down, then open the roof....you now have a convertible or at least the convertible effect "sweet !"
