I'm looking at getting a 2004 760li. I was wondering what the reliability is of the V12. This would have no warranty. This will not be my main ride (Summer cruiser )
This is going to be my first BMW. The 400+ HP is hard to pass up. I know the parts can be pricey but I can do most of the work myself. I learn fast. The thing i'm worried about is the fact that I can only find a couple here in the US for sale. Was the 2004 760li a limited run? One that I seen listed for sale claimed that only 280 of the 2004 760li sold. Any information would be awesome. Thanks all
I would probably spend a little more and get a facelift one instead. The E65 in general is a pretty solid car and not to expensive if you do all the work on your own. It's probably only the specific V12 parts that can be expensive if something breaks. Get a well equipped one and you won't regret it. (unless you get a lemon) the optional extras list for the E65 is really extensive so do your research and probably not buy the first one you see unless you're sure it's a good example.
That's just my two cents.

Unless your ready to accept the owner ship costs, I would say no
Hi,
I have a 2004 760Li. I bought mine in 2012. I change all the fluids. I did change the battery and alternator and a few other things the first year. Since 2014 been running great it was a great learning experience for me. The 760 never seen the dealer other than inspection. I go to a shop that only deals with BMWs.
Wash it Wax and put 22" rims on it, you will be fine.
