I have noticed for the last 2 summers that the car is running hot during the summertime. I live in southern Nebraska, so our summers can be hot 90-100. These temperatures should not be an issue but it is. If i turn the AC, then I overheats without fail. During the rest of the year I have no problems. FYI the water pump was replaced almost 2 years ago. As summer is approaching im looking to run thru the following to get in forth of this problem:
1. Coolant bleed & flush
2. Replace the radiator cap
These are a couple of things that seem easy to start with. What do you guys think?

If I'm not mistaken you don't have a coolant gauge but you do have a oil temperature gauage that would read rather hot if you thought it was the coolant temperature gauge
Agree w jclausen. My 07 335i has oil temp and not coolant indication. Commonly missed. And the normal temp band is not dead center in some cases..

thanks yes thats correct, My understanding is that should not be reading 300 and that 250ish should be the normal.
The oil temp will vary, there maybe is an after market oil cooler set up available if you wanted to have better oil cooling. The old BMWs came with big long oil coolers like on e30's, e28's etc I don't know why they wimped out on these newer cars.
Update: I was able to figure it out. I was using 0w-40 oil year round. When I changed it to 5w-40...oil temp dropped to normal thanks
Fascinating that it had such an impact.
You should consider a JB4 if the issue returns. It would let you monitor and record all DME parameters to your phone over bluetooth. I love mine for monitoring and troubleshooting. You can see the oil and water temp dance, as different driving conditions adjust the temperature for optimum performance or efficiency, which are at different temperatures.
