E36 M3 trans/clutch noise

I just did a full transmission/clutch re fresh and its making noise The trans makes noise only with the clutch out but as soon as its pressed in its totally quiet. It sounds like its the TOB but its a brand new Luk one. It also is louder or quieter at times, like if I leave the car in nutural and let the clutch out slow its quiet sometimes. But if I let the clutch out kinda quick it gets louder.

Anyone have any ideas if it could be anything but the TOB?

A bad TOB will make noise typically when the clutch is depressed. Now, a TOB can make noise when the clutch is not depressed if it’s either a bad unit, if it’s not seated properly in the clutch release fork or if it’s the wrong TOB. Did you buy the clutch as a kit or did you buy individual parts?

I bought individual parts its a f1 stage 3 clutch and LUK TOB. What are the chances the bearing was faulty? or I have heard of the trans input shaft bearing being bad but I'm not sure it would be quiet with the clutch in. The part that gets me is that if the car is not in gear and I let the clutch out very slow it's quiet.
