Hey I just bought an E36 M3 and I'm trying to figure out what has been done to it since the owner was not too helpful in letting me know.
Also, does anyone know why someone would out S52 cams on a S50 engine? I've read that its lighter??

S52 and S50 cams are swappable. You need to swap the trays if you are going to put them in an m50. The S52 cams are hollow, so some would argue the S50 cams are a bit "hotter" since they have more mass and inertia (just what I've read, I cannot confirm this) and are a bit stronger. It appears the durations are not exactly the same, but it is not for the timing change that people swap the cams in for. So you're not going to really notice swapping S52 cams into an S50 engine. If you want more aggressive cams, look into Riot Racing regrind cam shafts, and of course Schrick.
