Sealing Getrag 260 TB guide tube...

I replaced the output shaft seal and can not recall why there is an "extra" hole in the TB guide tube. Real OEM shows 6 screws which is what I have. The attached photos borrowed from the innernet depicts the flange sealant (Bentley says 573) "looping around" this extra hole (as marked up in red)

Pls remind me what this hole is?

I used one of Loctite's general sealer, i believe i used SI 5980 i am unsure. If you have Hylomar M, that would work as well.

First picture, you can see that hole on the right side, nearly 90 degrees. The Input Shaft cover/housing must be properly aligned, if you flip it over (the cover) you will see a groove, it should match that on the transmission since it is for oil (i believe it is an oil feed, but could be return i am unsure).

Do a couple of dry mock ups, with bolts threaded half way. I believe the upper hold at 90 degrees is where the the mounting bolt goes, and the lower one should match the grove in the cover. They key is to match that oil feed/return hold on the transmission to the groove in the cover.

    Hope this makes sense.

Makes lots of sense and shame on me for not seeing this sooner. I really dodged a bullet here - had I drained the trans before working on it as I meant to I would haven’t noticed this until the motor was in place.

The Bentley manual is your bible, before doing any work i read through it 2-3 times and check the forums to be sure i did not miss anything, or if there is some hard part included but not mentioned....such as removing the intake manifold is easy, getting that bitch tube in was a nightmare, till i read how a simple cable tie make life easier.

Agree - however Bentley doesn't flag this issue. If anything I'd say looking hard, photographing, comparing etc is as or more important.
