Hi,
I'm sure you guys saw my other thread started not too long ago, https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...Engine-rebuild. I'm trying to get my E46 back into great shape. As opposed to continually starting new threads every time I had question, figured I'd start my own build thread so share updates and ask questions.

Major issues are Paint, GM5, and the Headliner.
1) Paint: shown below in pictures. I'll try to make sense of these descriptions. Rear roof rail hit the hardest. Felt super chalky if that makes sense, I did already take DA polisher to it. My guess is clear coat failed and went through to the base coat? Front bumper, that just has a peeling clear coat. Best fix? Third problematic area was similar to the roof but didn't feel like clear coat failed.

FWIW, That front bumper looks like it was repainted, and the re-paint is flaking off, as opposed to the clear coat peeling.

And the roof rail doesn't look like the clear is missing. You may have some overspray or "industrial contamination" that needs to be wet sanded off.

Wow thanks! I knew it had the rear bumper replaced in the past and trunk shows some signs of overspray but not sure how far the respray was nor if it included the front bumper.

Recent concern,
Had GM5 repaired by Scott because locks weren't always responsive. Key fob would work for unlock and trunk but not locking. Locks work fine unlocking and locking with center button. Reinstalled new GM5 module. Key fob remote works with unlock and trunk. Lock didn't work with fixed GM5. Found extra key and started using it. Had no response in terms of buttons but did work in the lock and did start the car. Original key has no remote functions now either. So I'm stuck with two keys that start the car and no remote functions. Locking at speed doesn't seem to work.
