Are we supposed to put a bit of grease on the trans input shaft bearing retainer on which the clutch release bearing slides? The bearing itself is mostly plastic, especially where it slides back and forth on the trans input shaft bearing retainer. If so what type of grease?
Yea on the splines, on the end of the input shaft going onto the pilot bearing, on the collar that the throw out bearing slides on, the throw out bearing arm pivot ball, any thing that slides or pivots of course not a ton on the splines since it spins and would throw it off into the new clutch parts. I used redline grease on my bmw BMW bike splines or I have Honda moly grease too.
BMW used to recommend Microlube GL261. Honda uses high temp urea grease. You do want to use a suitable product, not just any grease is appropriate.
