I bought this car not running to use for an LS engine swap. According to the previous owner all it needed was an alternator.
My plan was to get the car running again and drive it for a while as I get together the rest of the parts I need for the swap.
I had the car towed home, put in a new fuel pump and alternator and replaced the leaking oil filter housing gasket while I was in there. The engine started right up but when I attempted a drive around the block I discovered the transmission was slipping badly.
I have attached a youtube link to a video of the engine being started from cold on April 17, 2019.

After warm I did a compression test with all results from 163 PSI to 170 PSI. This equates to 4% variation, 5% or less is considered good by BMW.
I have ordered a new set of spark plugs due to a slight miss and CEL code for cyl 5 misfire. When I did the compression test the spark plugs were in bad shape, I am sure that's what was causing the misfire. I will post another video of the engine running after the new plugs are installed.
My next steps are to remove the transmission followed by the engine. Up until the time the engine is removed a potential buyer will be able to come and see / hear it run in the car for peace of mind before purchasing. Also there is no sign of water in the oil. (indicative of a blown head gasket, common if you over heat these engines)
After the engine is removed I hope the attached video provides confidence this engine is in good condition.
If you buy the engine I will give you the transmission at no additional charge.
Engine will not come with AC compressor, all other accessories and exhaust manifold are included.
