    92 525i E30 Retrofitting

So I just got myself an old e30, it runs okay but theres a lot of work ahead. I'm not looking to restore the car I want to build something new as a project.

So my question is: can you retrofit parts from other BMW cars to upgrade the car?
(Finding the exact parts to rebuild the car can nickel and dime me to death)
So I was thinking of getting a parts car maybe a e34 or something.

I'm looking to swap the M50 engine to the N54 engine if possible.

    No e30s, again :(
from some other models you can use a few parts. a 027 afm from a 535 or 735 (I think 027 is the last 3), you can use diffs from some cars, of course you can use whatever motor and trans as long as you want to do the work, you can use seats, you can convert to 5 lug and use the other rims. very little of this is bolt on though, even the afm needs a little adjusting to work properly and you have to have the larger injector and a chip for it to really work like stock
    No e30s again.

Awesome, more so to the suspension and undercarriage components like axles etc.

I ask because I found a parts car a 02 535 and I was wondering if I could scrap the worn out suspension in my car and basically put together a new unit by scavenging the newer model.

not sure on the springs from that, or the hubs, control arms, etc. I know you can use e36 m3 springs for a little bit of a drop, like an inch or 3/4". and 318ti stuff to convert to a 5 lug set up
    No e30s again.

I’ve considered toying with e28 5 series suspension parts, because they are so readily available, however when I see the size of the components all I can think of is adding unsprung weight to an otherwise light and nimble platform. Would it be worth it to have the wheels of your choice, yes, but then there is still the issue of offset differences among five lug wheels, in other words, one five lug wheel requires a different combination of suspension components than another
