so, my car has been making a knocking sound from the front of the engine near the valve cover i am not too sure what it is but i don't think it's vanos however the noise is only present at idle and then goes away when driven the car drives fine and it doesn't feel like its lost power or anything. i recently did the water pump/thermostat and pulley and the noise started after i did those things. does anyone know what it could be? any help is appreciated! (not loose spark plugs either i checked and they're all tight)
There are many different kinds of noises, knocks, ticks, etc. Best to post a video when you clearly hear the knock, and slowly move the phone/camera around the engine so we can hear the noises from different areas. That's not ideal, but it helps. (I've participated in too many discussions where we were chasing the wrong problems because of vaguely described sounds.)
Oh Thank you! I will do that today.
i don't know if you can hear it well but it's very slight in the video but in person it's a bit louder/noticeable.
(ignore my bunk reservoir lol)

for sure
From here I'd call that belt chatter. Worn or contaminated belt, weak tensioner(s), excessive accessory load.
Spray some water on the belts and see if this noise goes away.
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
the belts are new so it is possible that the tensioners are weak
