Leclerc has done well at Baku in the past and Red Bull are to bring a Honda engine upgrade.

    Could be an interesting weekend.

    Cautiously optimistic.

LOL, hard to make predictions now. Ferrari have a supposedly better engine, but mess it up when it counts. I just hope for multiple safety cars to spice it up.

No longer hard to make predictions.

That was a pretty intense qualifying though. I thought Leclerc's response to his mistake was admirably genuine.

The run up to the 1st corner probably decides the outcome. The corner were Kubica and Leclerc had their shunts will be the star tomorrow.
Great job by Perez in the Racing Point, maybe repeat podium for him?

    Great quali.

Hope Bottas makes up for his last effort with a great launch and keeps the lead.

Vettel vs. Verstappen into first corner could get interesting.

Leclerc will have to show what he can do coming back through the field.

I think it's actually more unenjoyable to have Ferrari look so good until race day each weekend than when Mercedes was just faster all the time. Not the best options to choose from. At least Hamilton didn't get the freebie pass for the win.

When i heard that "Lewis has DRS, overtake is inevittable" i thought they would swap places.
Ferrari need to poach James from Mercedes for strategy calls. Also i think the front wings of Ferrari, and Alfa Romeo do not work.

He said "overtake is available". Overtake button on the wheel, so that Bottas could defend.

Great work by Merc, i love that Ferrari is imploding

This is Toto managing the appearance of a WDC chase, in the absence of real competition.

Until a team can approach Mercedes, post qualy and post race highlights are the limit of my time this season.

Yeh. I fast forward a lot now. Watch first 3-4 laps. Fast forward a bit. Fast forward to pits. See a change in position or some mention in commentary then rewind. 15-20 to watch a race. Don't even bother with interviews or trophy ceremony. Kinda sad as I've been watching F1 for a very long time and I actually like Mercedes and Ferrari and RB and Renault and most teams but this is crap racing.

If Lewis didn't screw up and mount the curb twice (which I'm glad he did), the pass would have been inevitable. There's absolutely no way to defend against the slipstream/DRS combo at that track. Bottas would have been robbed of another win through no fault of his own.

Quali was better than the race.

Ricciardo has to be pretty low right about now. What a disaster.

Red Bull had a drive shaft failure with Gasly and reduced power on Verstappen's car to avoid a repeat.

At least Bottas took with win.

Pretty much this. This is the Mercedes playbook:

    FP1: Sandbag
"yeah we tried some different settings out there but the Ferrari look fast"
    FP2: Sandbag
"we thought we had worked through our issues but now we are .5 seconds behind italy"
    FP3: Sandbag
"we may have found a couple tenths but Qualifying is going to be difficult"
    Q: Take 1-2
"I'm just so proud of the team, we worked so hard and it was all just a great team effort"
    Race: Take 1-2
"GET IN THERE LEWIS. Great drive mate you really had to work for that one, it was all skill that you and Bottas are 5+ seconds ahead of the Ferraris"

    Rinse, Repeat
    Rinse, Repeat

Hopefully the Ferrari's can find some pace

If Renault keep failing, don't think the bosses will keep the team in F1. They had the CEO and other big bosses in both the China and Baku GPs...

Pretty much. But only the media put Ferrari as fastest, or favourites. Vettel was saying they lack speed and grip on corners, can't get the tires to work.

The great irony in all this is that, after dominating with Red Bull, Renault was the loudest voice threatening to leave F1 unless the V8's were scrapped for a more "relevant" engine formula.

Seems to have worked out well.
