It is sad to inform the community that Charlie Speer passed away today. Dave Belknap and Scott Armstrong informed Wuffer and I this afternoon. As many of us know, Charlie and Gault BMW have been staunch supporters of the E31 Community for years, and many of us knew Charlie through dealings with him. Even though he had retired, Charlie still would fill in at Gault, according to Scott - just to get out of the house.
As soon as I have further information, I will pass it along.
"Fair Winds and Following Seas" Charlie. You made the world a better place with your friendship and support.
We will all miss you.

Very sad news. He was a pleasure to deal with and was very helpful.

Sad news indeed. Charlie was a real friend to the E 31 community. He helped make affordable parts available to everyone, and without that I’m not sure I would’ve been able to maintain ownership of my first E 31, 19 years ago. Plus his knowledge of the Parts system was beyond compare. He was truly a class act, and will be sorely missed.

Charlie Spear is as every part as important to the e31 crowd (and more) as BMW is in making the car. Thanks Charlie for all the smiles you gave us. Hope you get to drive the car of your dreams now and may it never break down...and if it does, I hope you have access to your own "Charlie Spear" somewhere.
In our hearts...

I swear, my cars are like a girlfriend.
Sometimes its a rough ride, sometimes its smooth motorin'.
Sometimes she doesnt like how i treat her and sometimes i dont like how she behaves.
BUT at the end of the day, she loves it when I am inside her.
Sorry to hear this. He was a great guy. He will be missed.
What "thumbs up" really means
Man this is sad news. There’s a lot of Charlie Spear in my cars. What a gentleman he was.
