I have that problem too. Those damn robins are obsessed with themselves.
It's the Mockingbirds with the vanity issue at our house. My wife went to the extent of putting plastic bags over the side mirrors each night.

it's territorial behavior, they just can't seem to get that other bird to leave their territory. My son's Merc (Grand Marquis) was a mess for a good month last spring. Bags over the mirrors was the solution. Not sure what that robin did with all his spare time once he didn't have to defend his space...

i think there's a condor somewhere in my area, haven't been able to catch sight of it yet, just what it leaves me.
Great timing on this post. I have the exact same issue with a Robin. I went to the local big box store and bought a plastic owl. Last night, I put it on the roof of my car. No more bird droppings. The other birds are terrified of the owl. This weekend, I'll mount it to a nearby tree.
I'd make it a hood ornament.

I'll buy a big inflatable dragon.
The directions on the owl recommends that you move it around so that they don't get used to it. I moved it from my roof to the trunk this morning. We will see how it works out. But, that Robin was on my car within minutes of me getting home everyday. I had to rinse my doors and mirrors every morning. This morning...nothing. I drove my other BMW in to work today and left one in the driveway with the owl on it. We will see how it does sitting outside all day long. In the past, that would have been a death sentence for that car.

My mum also always feeds, all the birds and animals all around with bread that remains after meals. To tell the truth, many neighbors do not like it and they swear with her because all the normal beings return back to the place they were fed and there remain a lot of garbage and feces after them. But she is very good-natured and cannot live without it. To tell the truth, for the present moment there flew so many birds near our yard to eat that she already lacks food to feed them. And she started to buy some peanuts for birds. I think it is time to buy some birds in our house, or she will spend all your money on strangers. LOL
