E83 parking sensors

Got this motor a few weeks back, decent deal, remapped and tidy enough, came with an extra set of alloys as well but had a little ding on the rear bumper.

When putting it into reverse there is a long beep in the cabin, around 4 seconds and it goes off but neither front or rear sensors appear to work. If say one was u/s does this stop front and rear from working? I have removed them and all appear undamaged. I have ordered up 2 new ones just in case. You can see the small ding in this photo. Just slap bang on the sensor. Obviously never worked then either?!?!
