    fx400 clutch

    hi.
i've been looking for a clutch and it seems that the only option is a cm fx400.
i'm wondering who here has one and how do you like it. i'm dreading the chatter and sensitivity of a 6puck
as i do drive it to work and cruise it sometimes.

it's an m30 so i don't have that twin disc option or anything fancy like that.

here are pictures of my burned out fx300.

What power/torque numbers where you putting through the FX300? I'm trying to decide between the FX300 and FX350 for my build.

You sure you cant swap over to an e36 clutch?

    How to turbo your car:
Step one. Install ecu and learn to tune and or have it tuned.
Step two. Install injectors and retune.
Step three. Install turbo parts and bits. get it running with out leaks. DO NOT DRIVE IT. Idling should be ok
    Step four. Retune car
    Step five enjoy

Get the 6 puck ceramic. It chatters for the first 1500 miles though.

I have the fx400 and it chatters and is noisey but you can adapt your driving style to all but get rid of those issues.

that fx300 just held 500tq by a hair on the dyno, it didn't completely let go but it smelled bad.
on the street it would blow it away so it was de-tuned to 470tq and even then it will smoke it at high loads, freeway, 7 out of 10 times.

probably don't recommend it over 450tq to keep it safe. Drives fantastic though.

Sounds perfect for what I'm doing. It'll be a turbo 4cyl, so torque numbers won't likely go past 400wtq. ZF E36 trans with a custom flywheel so I'll likely go for the FX300 then. 525+whp, but that's not what slips clutches.

I have the FX800 and have had no problems, except it is somewhat "grippy".

i'm still prepared for it being like an off/on switch.
just ordered it. i'll add to the comments.

btw the fx300 doesn't like to be heated up so if u slips and overheats it's pretty much over.
i got new grippy summer tires and by 3rd gear it just lets go. vs being a burn out monster with the run flats.

just thought it'd update this for future people.

it drives like normal as in it's not some crazy grabber.

pedal is light, there is nothing strange happening like chatter but the clutch grabs higher on the pedal then the fx300.
over all it feels about the same to me, just grabs higher for some reason and yes you can slip it like normal. not even close to an off/on switch.

Also an update, feels like i have been following Robocop a bunch haha.

DKM is in with an e36 starter. grabs very well no noises. More on off but you can slip it. Id say the main think is its just different. Been tough for me to get used to.

i got it from TCD he hooked it up with my last clutch too.

100 miles in boi. Can't wait to let this thing eat at 500mi.
i'm already doing 1st gear pulls i can't wait. ha

btw found a flywheel balancing place very local and turns out, according to them. they make all of clutch masters clutches.
they said they can make me a custom one, sell me a "clutch masters" for way cheaper, or a twin disc. wtf...
