E32 EDC III - is there a problem or its just like that . Hello I have 730i e32 with edc III ,the case its this . When I turn on the sport regime it becomes hard the suspension (wich is ok ,must be like that ) but when I switch on comfort mode the car starts to be I think way too much "soft"like in an old mercedes with the spring seats (w123 )It feels too soft only IN FRONT ,in the back its I think normal . Is there any problem and in which parts to look for it shocks , hydraulic spheres ,modules or sensores?

I do not have EDC III on my car, but I have driven some E32 750 with EDCIII and I had the same feeling, in sports very hard, in comfort for maybe too soft, well, it is comfort setting then.
In any case that shows that your system works, in case the control module is defective it always automatically goes to sports setting.
Once we did a oil change in the front shocks on such a system on an Alpina B12, that helped a bit with new oil, http://e32b12.blogspot.com/search/label/Suspension

I was going to say, its probably time to refresh the front shocks. The rears are constantly being circulated with new fluid so unless they have a physical failure, they will always perform as new. For the rears, the biggest part that can fail is the accumulators. But the fronts are a sealed system. So the oil can go bad or the seals can fail causing oil loss.

Mine are similar. I'm going to try replacing the oil in the fronts with shock oil that's about 20% more viscous (based on some data Shogun published) than the stock Pentosin, which I hope will bring the damping more in line with the H&R sport springs I have on the car.

EDC I and EDC III was always an optional extra. EDC II was never used on E32. EDC II was available for the E30 M3.
EDCI is the more simple version for the first built years, EDCIII is much more complicated, also from design of the shocks.
The most expensive EDC III shocks are the ones for the rear combining EDCIII and SLS/LAD for the iL version.
EDCIII German list price accdg to a 1993 price list for optional extra, option 223 EURO 1383,04 = approx 1400 $ back in 1993. Available there for 730 M30, 730 M60, 740i, 740iL, 750i, 750iL, for the 750iL Highline version it was included in option package 448 for roughly $10000

^ Great info shogun! It always fascinated me that BMW was able to combine LAD and EDC in the rear shocks. I have a very good understanding of how LAD works (thanks to the info/pics/diagrams you've posted over the years), but not EDC since I've never had a car equipped with it. One of these days I'll read up on it.
