Hello, my car has error code 4073 which references to clutch switch signal according to carly and my car is an automatic, any idea how to fix this? I took it to a shop but they had no idea except just that someone might have made the car partly think that its manual back when stage 1 upgrade was done. Symptoms while driving is that car sometimes accelerates on itself and most of the time when driving normally it feels like the car isnt pulling as good as it should but when i press the pedal to the medal the car seems to accelerate just right without any powerloss, also my fuel consumption is 8,2l/100km which is way too high since the normal is usually around 7l/100km/h. Also most of the time my cruice control isnt working either.
This thing is making me go crazy and would really appriceate any help you guys can give, also sorry for my english it isnt my native language.
Also the car is 2008 year model and it has the newer cic system instead of the ccc, not sure if it had that from the factory.

Check out this thread:
https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...tch-How-to-fix
The problem could be the anti-theft module, the EWS!
Ive read that thread and when i tried talking about that to the repair shop they seemed so confused and frankly so am i, why would i need to change it from automatic to manual? Isnt it coded from the factory to be automatic? And i didnt really understand that does the switching go trough coding or is there literally a ews module somewhere in the car with auto/manual switch? Tried to find it with carly but dont think carly can help me with this one.
Yes, according to Abel the EWS does have to know which transmission (manual versus automatic) is in the car. I would contact 328 Power 04 (Abel) to get detailed instructions on how to check the setting in the EWS and how to set it to automatic if it’s set to manual. The shop needs to have the correct software.
I dont know how to contact this Abel, im new to the forums, can you tell me how to contact?
You can send him a PM using his handle: 328 Power 04.
If you are unable to do so, let us know so we can see if he will respond to this thread.

Here I am.
Reading thread now.
The car definitely needs to be looked all over for coding and possible problems with the chip tune. Inpa and ncs expert program would pull all that data. This is not something you can really do on a phone, as the problem looks complex. Pull all codes in all modules.
Do you have a k+dcan cable and a Windows computer?
Have you had the car for long? Was it always like this?

Thank you, Abel.
Thank you for replying guys, ive had the car for 6 months and it has always done it, i only have carly which i can use to get errors but nothing more but i did go to tuner shop for the stage 1 check up so ill know more on monday about the condition of the stage 1 that was done to the car and if it could be the reason for the problems.
Also only other error that i get is:
Fault Code: 00A6D1
Fault Explanation: :ADDITIONAL WATER PUMP (This is random and doesnt always appear, not sure why, its been popping up ever since i got the car and i havent had any overheating issues)
- - - Updated - - -
And yeah the car is code tuned so no additional chips are installed.
Bump
FIXED; i took the car to a bmw specialiat programmer who coded the car completely back to stock settings and now the error is gone and cruise control is now also working perfectly.
