Hello! I'm a new member to the forum so please excuse any redundancy or lack of knowledge but I'm looking for some help. In short my issue seems somewhat common from what I've read on the forums but I'm looking for some more advanced help. After about 2 days of not starting my car I got in this morning and it started and drove fine but I realized pulling out of my neighborhood that the instrument cluster (tach, spedo, etc.) was completely dark. The radio and audio worked fine but there was no communication to the instrument cluster. I started by checking fuses and didn't find any blown fuses correlating to the instrument cluster and went through my records to check when the battery was replaced. The battery is less than 2 years old so I dont believe that to be the issue either. I also tried some "wake-up" procedure I saw was recommended online by holding the start button for 30 seconds or so but no luck.
For full disclosure I did have an incident where something went haywire with my key fob and the windows rolled down automatically. It was raining when I found out and had probably been rained on for an hour or so. I'd naturally suspect that to be part of the issue but I cant figure out where the issue is stemming from. Any help/advice that might help me from fronting a hefty dealer fee would be extremely appreciated! Thanks Guys!!
Pull the cluster out, unplug it and plug it back in. Usually this resets the cluster and it will work again temporarily, unless there's some extensive water damage. If it does work after the reset, you're likely looking at getting a new cluster. Not a bad idea to scan for codes before going crazy though.
Check the fuse for the cluster. Try removing the fuse putting it back in.
Thanks for the answers, i have the carly obd2 plug in scanner but it couldnt communicate with the car
