Are the boomerang-shaped dash pads under the glovebox / steering wheel affixed solely with Velcro or are there plastic pins that will likely need replacement? Thanks much ...
Be careful taking these on and off - they break easily at the centre bend.
Before you attempt to remove it, you must take off the black under-dash panel by twisting the two plastic pegs in each and pulling them out. These pegs go through the under-dash panel, through the boomerang trim piece, and into the dash.
The piece which runs alongside the centre console is fixed with Velcro. Separate this from the console, hold it away (not too much of an angle!).
The boomerang pieces are affixed to the upper dash panel with three threaded studs which are moulded into the part. Again, these can break off. They don’t screw in to the dash panel, they’re a press fit. Carefully prise the fixings out of the dash using a flat plastic blade to slip between the two parts and twist.

Excellent insight; thanks ... just what I needed and exactly what the OEM manual omits.
I repaired my cracked one with epoxy resin, lasted many years now, also added some new velcro pads to the trim part
