I had UUC SSK installed without DSSR in my '96 ZF converted car and the shifter is slightly more forward than stock - I am looking to fix this. Will adding DSSR place it back into original position or should I get adjustable DSSR to compensate?
Thanks.

The DSSR alone won’t make a difference, the adjustable one will make it so you can get it where you want it positioned.
It’s also totally normal that it would be in a different location because it’s a different shifter.

Sounds like you have the wrong parts to start with. A stock selector rod positions the lever in the OE position. Wrong parts or the shift lever is installed backwards.
I haven't installed my EVO3 yet, but from what I can tell it shouldn't really change the resting/neutral shifter position much at all. It reuses the same carrier, their DSSR maintains the same geometry as stock, and the only real new thing is the shape and increased length of the actual shifter lever which serves to shorten the throws. But the shifter itself should still sit in the same place in the car since it's coming up through the same opening and at more or less the same angle and height (unless you adjust it).
But yeah, an adjustable DSSR like you posted would certainly allow you to set the top of the shifter wherever you like it along the front/rear axis.

Finally got around to flipping it around and it hasn't made any positive difference. If anything, all forward gears sit even closer to the opening in the console.
Hmm.. There is no reason for it to stay off of center. Can you post a picture of the position?
Are you sure you flipped it the correct way, and didn't flip it twice? The shifter position should change dramatically if you flipped the shifter. See the attached pic. You can see the bend, flipping it would cause it to bend the other way.

Right, this is exactly what I though, but looking at the bend of my shifter, it isn't as obvious as it is on manual you've posted... I wonder if what I was sold a modified shifter or belongs to a different model altogether.
Did you buy it new or used?
No matter where you go, there you are...
Used.
That's probably your answer...I've got a UUC shifter in the garage, (I installed a 6 speed trans) Post a pic of you yours.
No matter where you go, there you are...
Oh well, for sale it will go I guess... Too bad the seller I got it from neglected to mention this.

Yeah, that ain’t right... I don’t know what that’s for..

Was able to bend it back with a press at a shop, lever sits perfect in neutral. As a reference, it used to sit few mm from the front of the opening in 1st3rd and 5th. Just need to do the same operation to bring it closer to the left now.
Is DSSR worth the $?

It helps keep things a bit tighter. I think it's a good upgrade if you're looking for a slightly tighter shifter. You should also refresh all of the bushings while in there. I would NOT pay over $100 for any DSSR however, they essentially are all the same. I had the AKG unit and it was well made.
Offer them $80, or even 90.
