Brake Light W/ Black Socket Won't Snap In.

Hi again, 1995 525i 5SPD 284k


The rear passenger brake light w/ white socket blew. I replaced the bulb but, I pulled out the black socket, assuming it was bad. I was able to turn in the white socket but, no matter what I do, the black socket will not turn into place. I'm able to slide it into the whole but, won't turn either direction. I've been driving without a tail light for two days. It's just a matter of time.

What am I doing wrong?

It only goes in one way, and takes a bit to get it to snap into place. I just bought some Depo clears and no matter what I did I couldn’t get one of those bulbs in by hand, wouldn’t turn. Vice grips (not super tight, just firm) gave me all the leverage I needed. Don’t crack the plastic in the housing or you’ll hate life.

That would be my luck. If I'm not mistaken, I turn clockwise to fasten?

Thank you all. I just ran out and tried again. Somehow I was able to fasten it. So weird. I tried for days and now, it's all good.
