I pulled a set of Bilstein HD out of my car. They still have decent rebound in the rear but I don't know about the front. Quite a bit of fluid leaked in to the front strut housing.
Can they be rebuilt or should I just chuck em. I fear eventually these will become NLA

I've heard that Bilstein will rebuild anything, might try contacting them.
$95 apiece according to this page:

The backlog takes time, but yeah, they’ll rebuild them. Sometimes the fluid is extra oil from installation, which was something about heat transfer. Dunno if it actually was effective though

Mine had ATF in the bottom when I took them apart. I replaced it when I reassembled em.
from the factory BMW used oil in the strut to transfer heat away from the dampener and it should be replaced when you replace the dampers, however........
bilstien HD's and Sport dampeners are upside down. meaning that the active mechanics of the damper is outside the strut and the heat is transferred directly into the air and oil in the strut is not necessary.
bilstien will rebuild your HD's, i had them rebuild my specially valved alpina/billstien.
