I have a 07 328i base model. The car runs ok. When I turn off the car, sometimes, but not all the time the rear brake lights will stay on when the car is turned off. Also, the third brake light will sometimes be on with the brake lights but not all the time. If I crank the car the brake lights go off and will function normally when running. Along with this when you turn the car off something behind the glove box will make rapid, random ticking sounds like a relay or something switching power is going on and off but not in a controlled fashion. Also sometimes it will present dead battery symptoms. Headlights will not come on manually, no interior lights, wont crank or make noises on the inside. You can put a battery charger on the leads under the hood for just a few seconds and the car will strongly crank. When it cranks you can them immediately turn the car off and it will restart no problem. Battery at rest is 12.4, voltage is 14.2 at idle. The connections on the negative side are clean. Haven't taken the positive off but the connection is tight. Any help is appreciated.

Hey, I'm pretty sure you need a new battery or have a charging problem. German cars do unexplainable stuff when at low voltage and if you have 12.4 volts after turning the car off that is not normal. If you're testing it right after shutoff it should be around 13.0 volts with surface charge or at least 12.6. Have your battery tested. Could be another problem but that's a really easy one to check.
I can't say for sure what that module is and definitely not the connector but I can tell you on at least some slightly older BMWs that's where one of the fuse/relay boxes is located.

Or your frm ( footwell module) is faulty
I had the battery checked and it is fine. The car has now gotten to where it will not start. Everything comes on but no engine turn over. Battery is good. I will research the FRM.
