Replacing my E34 steering wheel with an E39 M5

Good afternoon!

I would appreciate it if anyone could advise me of any potential issues w/ replacing my huge E34 steering wheel w/ that of a smaller 3 spoke E39 or E39 M5 steering wheel/

I suppose that, the E39 steering wheel buttons will not work on my column, as the electrical's aren't there, other than the horn, but other than that, does anyone know of any issues? Do you know if the bolt is the same size?

You can swap out for a 2/99 and older one. 3/99 and younger changed to two stage airbags and different mounting.

For example: I put a 97 e39 528i heated wheel on my 95 e34 525i. I used the 97 slip ring and tapped into a power source for the heat.
