True or flase : Non runflat on some BMW models/wheels are dangerous

I have a 2015 BMW X1 E84 with 18 inch wheels, style 321. I have runflats but I want to change for regular. I hate the runflat feels.. stiff and dry. Tires slection is limited.

The dealership said the wheels are made only for run-flat. And the car too.

They said my wheels can't take the regular tires (because of the extra hump of the wheel). They also said the traction assistance could be starting randomly because of the tire softness and that it could give erratic driving.

My feeling are (I could be wrong).

    1. For the wheels it's BS. Source: https://blog.tirerack.com/blog/bens-...un-flat-wheels
    2. For the traction assist.. I don't know. Anyone heard about it happening?

    What do you guys think?

I think that is absolute BS, all of it. I know of no one who switched to non runflat tires that had any of these problems. Doesn't pass the common sense test. If the tires are properly inflated there will be no detectable softness IMO.

That is absolutely not true. I recently had Continental DWS 06 (staggered) installed on my 2016 328i. The ride is much improved and tire noise reduced. I have a pump/inflator (Ford OEM unit) in the trunk well. Your dealer wants to sell you RFT’s. They are in business to make money. Good luck.

ABSOLUTELY no truth to what was said by that dealership,
Non-runflats are absolutely the way to go!
