I have a 1999 323i yesterday it was running fine got out went inside for two came back out car wouldn't start. Jumped started the car from the positive terminal in the engine compartment. Went bought a new battery and had the alternator tested all I working as it should. However when I put the key in the ignition to start it everything lights up as it should I hear the fuel pump however the car won't crank. Attempting to jump the car from the battery in the trunk it still won't start however when jumped from the terminal in the engine compartment it fires right up has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it?
Moved your message to the model specific sub-forum. Good luck with the fix!

Thank you
Check the voltage at the underhood jumper post with just the new battery connected. The issue may be the new battery isn’t fully charged.
Sounds like a poor electrical connection.
Check:
- For 12V at the under hood jump start point. Monitor the voltage as you try to start the car. Does it dip?
- Negative battery connection to the body connection
- For corrosion or other signs of damage to the fusable link in the positive battery connection

There is only one thing more pleasurable than working on a Z3, that's driving it top down on a fine day.
Thank you guys
