    M60 Crank sensor removal

So I tried to get this off, but can't get a typical "L" shaped hex key to turn within that small space.
Anyone have any suggestions? A longer T handle wrench may work I think, but I don't have one right now. Just want to make sure there's no special tool required. and I don't end up stripping the bolt.

    What did you use? Thanks.

I used a long ball end hex socket and it was a big mistake because I stripped the bolt and it turned into a nightmare getting it out. I would get a regular end hex socket and use whatever extensions you have to in order to use an impact wrench. It's hard to get a straight shot at the bolt with the dipstick tube right there. Every small hex or torx bolt on my car has stripped out if I didn't use an impact wrench, they are stuck on so tight and the metal is so soft...

I use special short hex bits for a 1/4" ratchet. You can also get nice little sets that basically adapt screwdriver bits to a mini ratchet handle.

    Examples:

I've found a set of these long reach hex sockets with an extension or two works great.

I used the pittsburgh long reach socket and it worked great with an extention. Thanks!

I removed a few items to make it easier. Removed air box top, filter and intake tube to throttle body. Took off the fan and shroud. I had to unhook an aluminum emissions air pump tube (I think that's what it is????)- The sensor was too long and would not pull all the way out of the bracket because the tube was in the way. Taking off the camshaft sensor gave me more room too. If you end up doing this, I would highly recommend you cover the radiator with a piece of cardboard since you are working very close to it.

Sounds like you have the secondary air pump. Complicates things a little, but not too bad. Glad it worked out!
