    2011 X5 35d

    X5 35D Proper Fuel Supply Pressure

    Does anyone know the target Fuel Supply pressure for a 2011 X5 35D? NewTIS shows 3500-3800 mBar but other areas say 4.1 Bar and others at 5 Bar.

    Had the 4BDA in the past and it came back. I check the supply side and it is around 3700 mBar. New Controller, Pump, Filter. Rail pressure vs. expected is always perfect.

    Since I cleared it last, I have not had the code but it would be nice to confirm the actual limits.

    I dont know the spec, but the X5 has a low side fuel pressure sensor that the 335 does not have. Your sensor could be going bad.

    Thanks for the note. Yes I have learned a whole bunch about the differences between the X5 35D and 335D. Your 335D utilizes volume supply not pressure supply like the X5. The fuel module can operate in 3 modes, Volume (Measured by RPM), Pressure (mBAR), or Static. Lots of great information out there but some of it is conflicting.

    If I look at this: (Says 4.1 Bar)

    But here I get 3700 mBar (3.7 Bar)

    Then in other documents it states 5 Bar.

    Right now I at idle get the 3700 mBar and I don't seem to drop below that but somehow I got the 4BDA code for the supply side.

    It would appear the truck thinks that the current value is fine because:

    1.. The Engine ECU sends a command to the Fuel Pump module to keep the supply side at something.
    2.. The Fuel Pump module then sends a voltage with pulse modulation to the pump. Right now I am getting 3700 mBar but the module is sending between 9-10V to the pump, which tells me it is getting what it expects because it could ramp the voltage higher if it was not supplying what it expected.

    All in all, it is frustrating because I just need the values to know what is normal and what the expected range is.
