    Read protected ECU?

    Hello,
ordered a ECU from ebay - post cat o2s disabled, secondary air pump disabled, EWS deleted.

In fact, post cat O2s & secondary air pump are not disabled, so it drops DTCs.
I know how to disable these, but I'm not able to read the ECU (partial/full) even in boot mode, seems it has read protection.
Seller ask me to send the ECU back, so he will reprogram it for me.
As I have to send it from Bulgaria to the UK, this means I have to wait more than 10 days....

any ways to read it, so to be able to edit the .bin and disable O2s and SAP?

If read is not possible, what if I just reflash it with another .bin?

You would want to identify the ecu you are working with. I saw your other thread, so i know a little background info.

The read would generally not be possible.. if you can get a read in boot mode, then maybe, depending how the lock is done. You may even unlock it if boot mode read works.

Alternative plan is to simply flash your own cloned full flash onto it. It will overwrite all the other stuff and be usable.

Solved: just reflashed it with a new .bin ant it now works.
