    Help me identify this transmission

I went to local spare parts yard and they had a BMW ZF 5 speed Transmission. Can someone tell me how much torque can it handle (500?) and what's the actual car it came in.

These are the embossed numbers I can find, apart from BMW and ZF.
    1053 401 114
    2102 1.1 226 1434 026.9
    2106-3 R2.4 226

I need to purchase a Shifter with assembly hence why I need to know the exact model.
    Thank you.

So in regards to the shifter+assembly which one should I get?
I messaged a few and most of them say that the shifter is different in each model (ones mentioned in the Wikipedia list).
Any way to pin down an exact model?

It depends on what vehicle you are putting it in. The shifters are all different because not every vehicle is the same size. The linkage could be shorter or longer, or have a different throw angle, or fulcrum point depending on what car it does in.

Hence why I'm trying to decode the transmission numbers to find the exact model. I bought this from a yard, the seller hasn't a clue. I'll be using this on a 2jz rx7. Just need a shifter assembly.
Google results say it's m3, 328i, 320d, etc. but with slightly varying numbers.
Does BMW have like a vin decoder for its transmissions?

The number you mentioned is not a BMW number, that is a ZF number
Could be from an E46 320 Diesel https://allegro.pl/oferta/skrzynia-b...-01-7161289159
BMW numbers have 11 digits, see www.realoem.com
But to decode BMW and ZF numbers is sometimes difficult.
