Hi Gents,
I did some research here on the fuel pumps. I t is not clear to me that I can easily remove the "inside pump" in the fuel pump housing assembly. The one on the "outside" was easily removed by pushingand pull it out the topside of the assembly. Does not appear to be enough vertical room for that inside pump to be removed. Thanks for your help. Ineed to change my signature I downsized my Lincoln(s) and we have a new 201t Hyundai Elantra.

You have to replace the rubber hoses to replace the pumps.

Thanks Roger, done. Figured out how to get them out. New fuel hose...looking at strainer replacement now.
Have you ever done a "top end" job on a m70? Mine is burning oil a lot. So much enjoyed meeting you and seeing your restoration at the BMW plant a few years back!

Garageaholic,
I will try to post my experience. Getting pumps out is not to bad. Replacement pumps require soldering new electrical plugins for the pos and neg leads. My old ones (original, I think) had electrical posts with nuts for the pos and negative power inputs. I am not too good at soldering so we shall see! One my pumps had failed the other barely worked. Will replace fuel filter also as the car has been sitting for several months. Got distracted with a 1988 MB 300SE!
Also am guessing there is now value in modifying pumps (e.g. higher pressure) on this fuel system. Sure there has been discussion on that!

If you dont use high pressure SUBMERSIBLE fuel hose, you will get to do it all again...
No, that isnt just "fuel injection" hose, it has to be specifically "submersible" too
