So I have a 2004 325i that I daily. It has been fun but as many have said the lack of power is kind of boring after awhile. So I was wondering if anyone has any tips and tricks as to squeezing some potential power out of these M54 motors. (Besides the standard bolt on's and supercharger kit) I mean like would a camshaft or a block out of a S54 work and help increase the performance. Does anyone know of any upgraded fuel systems? I heard theres some 1000cc gram injectors does anyone know anything about them? Has anyone ever bored out a M54 before? Any aftermarket internals I could get my hands on?
I'd love to eventually get 300-400whp while n/a and maybe someday turbo to 500-600whp
Thanks for any input in advance.
From my research "I also own the same but a 325xi" and it looks like a M54b30 is the best bang for your buck upgrade as you can easily find the motor, harness, ecu for around 650. You bump from around 180hp to 225, For 650 and some elbow grease I don't see a better $-HP upgrade for the money. N of course some Maintenance items, A stronger clutch and a CX turbo kit will easily hit your 300hp mark. Its what I plan on doing.
yeah ive thought about going for the b30 eventually, idk. I also thought about maybe doing an m52 swap as they seem to have a more broad after market option to them. But then again I could probably find a cheap e36 to have as a project car too. Too many decisions man haha
