    Rear upper Control arm help!

I am having a difficult time trying to replace the in bushing/bearing on the inner part of the upper rear control arm. I’ve gotten the outer one out and replaced, but the inner I can’t seem to find the right size? I got the old one out but can’t seem to find the right size to replace it? I have initially purchased the same size as the outer (part #33-32-1-135-131) but the inner seems to be just a slight bit smaller in diameter and also the bolt through the middle is smaller too. Is there a different part # for these? I noticed Wokke sells sets for these but these also appear to be the same size for inner and outer, which is why I thought they were the same part.

If you are referring to rear upper wishbone 33321138015 there is no OEM direct replacement bushing. I make re manufactured units with new spherical bearings, I will not sell bushings only. I do require the cores sent back to me.
Quite a few members on this forum have my units installed and are very happy.

That would make sense why I can’t find the right part, lol. PM incoming!

this topic comes up every few months, you can buy the bushings alone from wokke and another vendor in germany, i have used them with no problems,
if you are not a diy kind of guy then a few members will sell it complete with the arm.

My refurbished wishbones are just a bit of premium of what wokke sell his bearings for if you factor in international shipping cost, you don't have to press anything in or out and no waiting to get them from Germany.

You also kinda need wokkes press tool too as the new bushings are hard to press in without damaging the rubber. I had to cnc the tool.

Yeah the press tool would have been my next hurdle if I had gotten the correct bearing in the first place. At this point I am more then happy just sending them to you to replace as my car has been up on stilts and I just want to get back in her ASAP.

I got my 850 aligned and Guy stated that these were starting to be worn but not enough to affect the rear toe. What are the symptoms of these going bad?

Usually the rear end will start to feel wobbly, especially when changing lanes at speed or turning. There is another bushing that needs to be replaced with these at the knuckle, but that is readily available.

    Rear Upper Control Arm

Next winter I am going to drop the entire rear end and replace everything

For right now I am starting to get a wobble in the rear so I inspected and jacked up the hubs etc looking for any wrong movement which I did not find

My Left rear which is pictured had a slight amount of top to bottom movement. This is the Mythical Upper Control Arm Bushing. Did not look to be in the greatest shape and its cocked off of center. Is this cocked look correct?

It can be sideways like this because it's a spherical bearing that allows this movement, however it is most certainly shot.

Just FYI, someone managed to actually use a bearing from Mercedes for this, and had it custom built with spacers:

"I recently had the entire rear suspension overhauled and #10 is available as a complete unit for about $600 for each side. My trusted mechanic used a Merc. ball joint which was close in size and fabricated spacers without making modifications to the control arms the ball joints were only $50 each. I have driven the car for almost 500+ miles after and its pretty solid. "

Hope this helps: "The ball joint is from any 190 series or E-class from the 80s and early 90s. It's the rear lower outer ball joint. However, it is 40mm OD, and it needs to be machined down to 39mm OD, and add 3.5mm spacers to each side to go from 48 to 55mm wide"

Just adding the spacers in not enough, the ID of that bearing is much bigger than the bolt, spacer with a internal sleeve has to be cnc machined to match oem diameter.

Perhaps the poster doesn't know all the work that was done, although he is quite technical and does a lot of work himself. I have chatted with him on occasions and he does appear to be legit technically.
In any case, its something we may all have to deal with as more and more parts become NLA or prices go off the charts. You are looking at $600 vs $50(the ebay link says the bearing was around Euro 24). For DYI folks, budget minded, its something to have documented here.
