2004 x5 e53 3.0 gas. Airbag light came on and foxwell tool only says "mrs side airbag front right". Erased the code and immediately comes back on. Is that the bag located in the windshield pillar? Is there any TBS or active extended service warranty? Any idea how to fix? Thanks

Sounds like one the dealer has to sort out. Have you done any repairs or investigating that came in connection with the airbag...windows, seats ect.Originally Posted by redmeat

I am not sure what airbag it is either the door or the windshield pillar. I did window regulator in the door and ran wires in the windshield pillar but that was 6 months ago and the light did not come on after the work was done.

You have not connected the scanner...you've got to investigate with the help of the scanner. oh! o see you did use the scanner...yeah, this one is for the dealership. It's for the passenger seat...most likely the weight sensor.

I would say that "side" air bags are the ones in the doors. The air bags in the A pillars are referred to as "ITS" air bags (inflatable tubular structure aka "curtain" airbags). So the side airbag front right...I'd interpret as being the front passenger door air bag on a LHD e53 X5.
Here's a list of the MRS/SRS air bag & seat belt firing circuits and a link to the page in the TIS that it came from. Hopefully it helps clarify which air bag is which.
