I have (potentially) a failing LCM in my 1999 E39. I found a used LCM-4 out of a 2003 E39 and have installed it in my car.
LCM - 4 Auto - LWR 31041
HW:05 / SW:5.2
(Part #: 61 35 6 932 559)
I have successfully changed the VIN and mileage on this used LCM using PA Soft's BMW Scanner. The red tamper dot is no more. However, my turn signals and hazard lights do not work.
After many false starts, I have successfully connected NCS Expert (via the 20-pin diagnostic connector) and am able to read my car's VIN, and other details from the IKE.
I have followed instructions on how to properly 'code' the used LCM for my specific car (www.bmwpost.ru_NCS_Expert_Tool_Coding_Contorl_Unit s.pdf). After Processing the LCM module, and Execute Job, I turned my car off and then back on and the turn signals work!
I unhook my laptop and cables, close the hood, and begin driving the car. The turn signals once again no longer work.
Question: Did I permanently code this used LCM, or? How can I tell if this used LCM (or any other module for that matter) is properly coded to my car? My assumption is *if* the LCM is properly coded to my car, then the problem lies elsewhere on the I-Bus.
TIA for any advice.
