my 2009 F02 is having alarm issues... going off, and not being able to turn it off - no rhyme or reason it appears. When searching the internet... most say "likely" culprit is the bonnet alarm sensor. But for the life of me, haven't been able to figure out where the heck it's located at under the hood. Any help out there?
From the BMW TIS website...the hood sensor is S17: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...lim/1VnYrCMJBc
Here's another link that shows how the hood contact switch (#2) is incorporated into the hood catch (#1): https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...e-lim/D1J3Oia9

This isn't a direct response to your question, but, as an FYI, my wife's 2015 X4 recently had alarm issues, and it took the local BMW shop about a week to diagnose the problem (they said that they had to send codes/info to corporate?).
In any case, it was finally determined to be a chafed alarm wiring-harness, which was repaired under warranty.
Where you able to replace just the switch or did you have to replace the entire assembly? Did it fix the car alarm? Thanks
