i'm about to make a sump plate , more specific to protect the Moroso vacuum pump & belt that is low down there…. i found a pic of one, as i had in mind , but was surprized to see a opening after the radiator...
is this due the idea that the plate creates a vacuum under the car in front and so to pull hot air from the fan out instead of passing the sump ? i even see a vertical strip as to force fan air out to the bottom…
anyone has made this ?
Thanks for replys !
sorry , i don't remember were i found that pic , could be here or Pinterest ….

I think that pic is from someone that dropped a v10 from an M5 into an e31. A crazy amount (ridiculous amount) of modifications went on to do it so that was added for that particular job.

thanks Pablo , yes, now you refer to it , it was from a engine swap thread.... but of course such plate has nothing to do with what type engine is in... it's for protection ( stones in the belts ) & aerodynamics.
( on the rally CS we have a thick alu plate , but that is more for grounding on rocks / pavement edges in sharp corners … )
I made the plate without the opening ... at that place i have low the Moroso vacuum pump & belt , which i just want to protect against stones and road debris. Made a Alu support across the car fixed at existing holes in the chassis. Always more work than expected , but i am proud of the result. It is real sturdy.
Made one acces hole for draining condens/oil form the catch can , for motor oil i will need to remove the plate. No big deal , as best time for general inspection.
I don't need all the screws in the spoiler lip as example pic above , imho, as the plate is shaped far enough in the recess , that cannot come loose , sure not from eventual rubbing in forward direction .

Well done. Looks factory.
What "thumbs up" really means
thanks !
to get close to a OEM look , i made a alu cover for the charger , and at the same time a support for the OBD terminal .
Wash fluid container removed to drivers side , the small one, no place for the big one , sure not for both.

Belgiumbarry - you may want to consider replacing your coolant tank, it looks like the old yellow plastic style!

are they famous for leaking ?
Just curious. Where did you move the pentosin canister since you relocated the small washer fluid reservoir there? What's the benefits of moving various parts around under the hood? Again, just curious...not questioning what you have done?
Chris, on the place of the washer fluid reservoir is now the supercharger . The small reservoir is now on the place of the drivers side oem air filter housing. Pentosin canister is on his oem place.
So no benefits, but needed ...
