New Owner 318is

So I just picked up a 96 318is. One owner unmolested. Car does not start and has no crank. I can hear a buzzing when key is in. From my research it seems like the starter or solenoid is dead. Also A/C lights up but will not turnon and inboard computer has no display. Brand new battery and new main relay. Allother electronics work in the car. I just got out of the e30 game so this new to me. I already ordered the Bentley for the e36. Any advice? Thanks.

to confirm if the starter solenoid is dead try jump starting the car if its a manual. if its an auto, directly give power to the starter. if it starts, looks like you just need a starter.

I tried, it just slowly cranked. Used a starter box with full power on battery.

I replaced the key with a new one from BMW, new ignition switch, and new EWS2 antenna at the same time. Not sure what fixed the issue, but car runs great now.

Glad to see the issues are resolved and you can enjoy the E36. My first E36 was also the 318is and still wish I hadn't traded it in years ago.
