Hi guys,
I was having some e38 style 5's installed on my 85 e23 and the front tires ended up rubbing on the struts. Would 5mm spacers be large enough to put the wheel in the proper position? Tires are 225x50X16's. I have the same wheel and tire combo on my e28 and I think I used 3mm spacers.
I made the mistake of assuming that the old wheels on the e23 (which are 16's) were the same width as the style5's which they are not. The old wheels did not need spacers.
Arg!
Thanks!

I had the same set up on my e23 and used 5mm spacers up front. 10mm would work as well.

3mm should work, depends on brand of tyre. I use 3mm with E38 V12 wheels and 225/50R16s
One more question....do the spacers need to be hubcentric like the e28? Is the e23 hub bore 72.56mm like most other 80's BMW's? The reason I ask is in looking for spacers I have come across hubcentric spacers that say they do not fit 7-series, SUVs, and newer 2010+ F Chassis. For 80's cars they only list e28, e24 and e30 M3's. Here's what Im looking at:

that is the right hub bore size and you definitely want hubcentric spacers
