On my latest turbo build a M54 2.5 i need forged internals my question is i have a set of new wiseco 8.5 pistons and Carrillo Pro 135mm rods for my spare M50 2.5 that have never been used so i would like to use in the M54 block but part numbers are different .With both engines having the same bore and stroke does anyone know why this wont work. Only things i can think of is deck height on blocks may not be the same, Combustion chamber size and or valve size is maybe different on the M50 and M54 heads? any ideas.. Thanks

The deck heights are different by a millemeter, but the headgasket is also different by the same amount so it works out to be the same. They valve size and location is the same. The might have just put deeper valve reliefs in the M54 piston due to the double vanos. The M50 wiseco pistons have really small valve reliefs. I have never seen an M54 wiseco piston so I don't know what is different.

And its possible they put different clearances or something in them for the aluminum block. Call Wiseco and ask
