Hi,
My beloved 530i (M54 engine, 75k miles, 2003) has some oil leak issues. Last night, I found a bit of oil leaks and it turned out they are from the transmission oil cooler lines near the radiator. I googled and got the part numbers from realoem.com: the hoses (17221714511 &17221714512) and o-rings (172117426360). It's definitely from one of the hoses but I would replace the old o-rings, as well. My question is the tightening torques for the bolts (#8 & 15 in the diagram below). The Bentley manual does not help and I couldn't find the torque spec.
Can anyone help me on this? How difficult is this job? I'm not a highly skilled DIYer but can use wrenches for minor repairs.
Thanks in advance,
JW

The bolt doesn't need to be that tight, maybe 10ft-lbs.
The o-rings provide the seal, the bolt just keeps the pipes in place.
IIRC it's about 15nm. Put a little blue Loc-Tite on the bolt if you like. As Jim said, the o-rings do the work.
I think I’d replace the O-Rings and call it good.…or is it actually the hose/hardline that is causing the issue?
Just apply hand pressure to the bolts with a short wrench.
